A summer internship at MVE & Partners can provide the perfect opportunity. Internships are available in many areas of the firm allowing one to sharpen the skills learned in school and gain real-world experience. Architectural interns at MVE & Partners work on challenging projects, while forging valuable professional relationships. It's a great opportunity to learn more about MVE & Partners and possibly receive an offer for a permanent job after graduation.

Before the Interview

Interviewing is the crucial first step in reaching your professional goals. The following tips may be helpful in making your first interview successful in a career in architecture.

  • Know yourself. Make a personal inventory list. Know your strengths, weaknesses and job expectations.
  • Know the employer. Read MVE & Partners' Web site and recruiting / marketing literature. Visit some of our award winning urban office buildings, mixed-use developments business parks and residential communities.
  • Know the interview procedure. Talk to your school's career services staff and learn about interviewing procedures. Try a mock interview with another student or career services staff member acting as the interviewer.
  • Make sure the interviewer knows about you. Provide a copy of your resume and provide a sample of your work by leaving samples of your work product. Remember always to bring your portfolio for interviewer. Fill out any paperwork completely, neatly and promptly. These forms give you and the interviewer the foundation for a mutually productive interview.

What to Expect After the Interview

Don't expect instant action. Normally, interviewers are not on campus to hire anyone on the spot. They simply screen candidates for future interviews.

What Happens Next?

Even when interviewers are impressed with students, they will rarely make promises. We must review your qualifications with hiring managers before making commitments. Only then will you get an invitation to a second interview (usually at our Irvine Headquarters).

How to Help Your Chances

Write a thank you letter to the interviewer confirming your interest and reiterating the points you discussed.
