"Making something from nothing is the essence of architecture and I am most proud of the projects that truly support the users, no matter what type of architecture it is."
Jeffrey Larsen, AIA, is a specialist in high-density residential design and enjoys the challenge of bringing beauty and function to living spaces, while working within a budget.
A veteran of more than two decades at MVE & Partners, Larsen has designed military and academic housing, high-density, multi-family housing, luxury resorts and single-family housing, as well as commercial and retail projects. His extensive experience includes land-use planning, initial building analysis, space planning and conceptual designs for some of the most innovative projects for the firm.
Larsen believes in "designing to the merits of the problem." Different types of housing - such as military or academic - require different solutions and aesthetic sensibilities. He believes that architecture and design can create more stable communities in these fleeting social environments.
Larsen is regularly asked to lead educational design and industry forums and has appeared as a moderator, speaker and design awards judge at numerous conferences. He has also served as a guest lecturer at the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo (CSUSLO). Most recently Larsen was invited to speak at the CSUSLO Dean's Invitational Symposium Series as well as serve as Guest Critic for advanced urban design classes.
