MVE Principal Rick Castillo is a mentor and advisor to the Architecture and Engineering Academy at California High School in Whittier, his alma mater and the program that helped him get his start in architecture. Last year Rick mentored four junior students at the high school, participated in overall classroom and fieldtrip activities, advised on curriculum and also sponsored a scholarship for the National Association of Women in Construction. In April and May Rick toured the class around MVE's office and also to MVE's notable project, The Village at Irvine Spectrum. During their time with Rick, the students discussed careers in architecture, design critique, how an office works and reviewed their course work at various stages.
