President Richard Emsiek Recognizes Seven for Contributions

By Julie Taylor, Principal, Taylor & Company MVE Release - Wednesday, February 20, 2008 (Irvine, CA)

MVE & Partners, ranked among the 10-largest architecture firms in California, announced seven staff members have been elevated to the rank of Associate. "This is formal recognition of hard work, dedication and talent," explains Richard Emsiek, AIA, president of MVE & Partners. "These promotions also represent an investment in our firm, laying the groundwork for aggressive growth by MVE in such project areas as educational and institutional facilities, dense transit-oriented development, mixed-use projects and cultural establishments." Associates at MVE provide leadership within a project team and coordinate with clients and consultants to ensure the success of each endeavor.

Jeff Canfield, PE, Project Manager. A structural engineer, Canfield has worked with structural consultants and provided in-house expertise on multi-family projects since joining MVE & Partners in 2005. Canfield shows dedication to the quality of building design and execution while managing construction of complex multi-family buildings. He has been instrumental in applying his structural engineering expertise to architectural design, to keep projects on deadline. Canfield has a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree, with an emphasis in structures, from the University of Wyoming, Laramie.

Patricia Centeno, Project Manager. Since joining MVE & Partners in 2005, Centeno has expanded on her already deep expertise in multi-family residential and mixed-use development, handling all aspects from schematic design through construction documents and administration. Her broad range of skills includes entitlements, project management and technical knowledge and expertise, in addition to knowledge of policies and land use and their relation to market conditions. Centeno has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and works out of the firm's Oakland office.

Jerry McGuire, Project Manager. A team leader, McGuire oversees a group that generates drawings, construction details and project specifications submitted for code compliance. In construction, McGuire coordinates with the general contractors on behalf of the client. He is a leader in AutoCAD and Revit software. McGuire, who has an Associates degree in Architecture from Cerritos Community College, Cerritos, CA, joined MVE & Partners in 1998.

Chris Hoover, Designer. A conceptual site planner and building designer, Hoover also oversees graphic presentations of projects, in sketch, computer-rendered form or 3D modeling. He is on the leading edge of computer technologies, which bolsters his design skills in many residential building types. Hoover joined MVE & Partners in 2004, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Design from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Sherwin Pineda, Designer. An advocate of 3D modeling in early stages of the design process, Pineda was a member of the "Revit Design Team" for one of the first projects that transitioned the firm from AutoCAD to Revit design software. Pineda joined MVE & Partners in 2005, and has a Master of Arts degree in Architecture from University of Southern California, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Santos Tomos, Manila, Philippines.

Kevin Chu, Director of Web and Technical Development. A skilled programmer, Chu develops and administers MVE & Partners' website, the firm's Intranet and sites dedicated to client projects. His creativity and information technology skills have contributed to the firm's overall efficiency. Chu has a Bachelor of Science degree in Information and Computer Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California, Irvine.

Jacqueline Olsen, Receptionist. MVE & Partners' "ambassador of goodwill," Olsen has been an MVE & Partners mainstay since 1998, providing receptionist and clerical task support for the entire office. Her positive attitude, attention to detail and cheerful service embody MVE & Partners' dedication to customer service. Olsen provides the firm with follow through on important tasks and fosters confidence and appreciation from clients, consultants and others outside of the organization.
