This recreation and fitness club is the centerpiece for the 3,000 unit master planned community of Stonecrest in San Diego, California. It serves as the social and physical anchor for the community as the entry drive terminates its celebrated stone tower. The building is designed about a central court that is designed as the "heart" of the center. The court is then enclosed on all sides by a wide loggia that provides shaded circulation to all of the building's major components, including the clubroom, fitness area and offices. The loggia also provides the necessary separation from the court to the Olympic size pool beyond.
