Canyons Resort and Casino Las Vegas, NV

Client: Howard Hughes DevelopmentStatus: Schematic Design

Capturing the elegance and the exclusivity of a desert oasis has been the challenge of creating this unique destination experience. This 4-7-story, 250 guestroom boutique resort community begins at the point of arrival, articulating an image of desert tranquility, providing distinctive outdoor gardens, plazas, reflecting pools and unique drought tolerant landscaping native to this region. This resort facility will provide opportunities to experience hotel personalized service, unique gourmet restaurants, retail shopping and as an invited guest of the 120,000 sq.ft. casino, participate in some of the luxurious types of gaming available. The Canyons Resort theme circulates around a distinctive desert architectural style that recalls elements of "Prairie Style" architecture inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. The influenced roof forms, overhangs, buttressed landscaped garden walls, building massing and sophisticated wall articulation clad in sandstone and plaster, blend with the natural characteristics of the desert surroundings.
