Formerly a surplus railroad property, this is the first major effort to bring Australians from the suburbs into the urban housing solution. This public/private partnership developed the site to provide for new urban housing near a transit village. Designed to accommodate a variety of markets, the homes range from a one-bedroom city apartment to a large two-story, urban home. One level of subterranean parking is provided with unit access via private stairway. Each building configuration organized around an interior courtyard maximizing privacy for units, while enhancing the quality of open space throughout the project. This project offers the unique opportunity of a public/private venture with an underutilized railroad yard connecting the luxury infill urban housing with the prestigious East Melbourne CBD area.
