MVE has designed a new eye care facility for the Southern California College of Optometry that will provide patient care in a learning environment for students. The college is one of the top teaching facilities in the nation and this new facility will provide state of the art technology for patient examination and treatment for both primary care functions as well as a wide degree of specialties including Pediatrics, Vision Training, Ocular Disease, and Contact Lens. The facility will include a complete Laser Surgery Center, as well as research and testing facilities along with a retail component for an Optical Dispensary that will provide glasses and contact lens to the public.

The addition is a three-story, steel framed building connecting to the existing clinic building only on the second level. Level One contains an entrance lobby, three conference rooms and toilet facilities; Level Two is the main waiting area for the clinic and; Level Three will house the laser eye surgery center. The approximate total gross square footage for the addition is 10,800 sq. ft. 3,100 sq. ft. on Level One, 3,500 sq. ft. on Level Two, and 4,200 sq. ft. on Level Three. The exterior will have a two-story curtain wall at the entry lobby and waiting area, a smooth finish plaster on metal stud framing on the remaining walls.
