This redevelopment project, in a former industrial zone, helps to create a stronger sense of community through pedestrian linkages, inviting plazas and contemporary architecture, while respecting and taking advantage of the rich context of the surrounding area. This project responds to the unique urban/ industrial setting by establishing a pedestrian presence and linking adjacent sites to the vibrancy of the Bay Street development and plethora of amenities this community has to offer, while tying it into its surroundings. The design team took advantage of the spectacular bay views the site has to offer by directly responding on a unit-by-unit basis, which becomes very evident from the inside looking out, as well as the outside in.
The three-acre site consists of four distinct buildings over an on-grade parking structure, leasing office and retail space. The leasing office is connected to the main pedestrian lobby/plaza via a gallery space displaying historical and present day images of what our project and the City of Emeryville has to offer. The main pedestrian lobby is directly connected through an elevator to the community space which is complete with an audiovisual lounge and kitchen for resident use. This space has a direct visual connection with a swimming pool, as well as a modern gym in the backdrop. The common space on the podium is richly landscaped and includes key amenities.
