Oxnard Village is an approximately 60-acre privately funded re-development project located at the westerly gateway to the City of Oxnard, along the 101 Freeway. The under-utilized and blighted site currently contains 1950's era motel, mobile home park, retail/commercial and light manufacturing uses. The proposed development includes 1,500 residential units ranging from row-houses, podium stacked flats, live-work units and luxury high-rise condominiums. The mixed-use project also features a ômain streetö retail district with proposed shops and restaurants, a centrally-located elementary school which will be within easy walking distance from all residences, a bus and potential rail-oriented transit facility, and numerous green and recreational spaces. This smart-growth project was presented to the Oxnard City Council in Spring 2006, for a preliminary feedback and received undivided support to move forward in the planning and development application process.
