Hays Street Mixed-Use San Leandro, CA

This proposed mixed-use site is located in the heart of downtown San Leandro. MVE was asked to assist the City's Community Development group in visioning the development potential of a number of sites. With a few strategic gestures, a portion of Hays Street, along the San Leandro Creek, is transformed into a pedestrian promenade connecting Root Park, a neighborhood asset, with a larger area of the community. A prime retail corner and block is redefined to anchor the neighborhood commercial shopping district. Approximately 114 dwelling units are planned above the retail level and live/work units would line the pedestrian promenade. Already an active and vibrant downtown area, this new development can add not only a landmark building, but also the continual community presence.
